Proverbs 25

Proverbs 25

 Pr 25:1These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah the king of Judah copied.

Pr 25:2It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, / But the glory of kings is to search a matter out.

Pr 25:3As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, / So the heart of kings is unsearchable.

Pr 25:4Take away the dross from the silver, / And a vessel comes out for the smith;

Pr 25:5Take away the wicked man from before the king, / And his throne will be established in righteousness.

Pr 25:6Do not claim honor for yourself in the presence of the king, / And do not stand in the place of great men;

Pr 25:7For it is better that it is said to you, Come up here, / Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the noble, / Whom your eyes have seen.

Pr 25:8Do not go out hastily to strive; / Otherwise what will you do in the end, / When your neighbor puts you to shame?

Pr 25:9Argue your case with your neighbor himself, / And do not reveal the secret of another;

Pr 25:10Lest he who hears it revile you, / And the evil report of you does not go away.

Pr 25:11A word fitly spoken / Is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Pr 25:12Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold / Is a wise reprover to a listening ear.

Pr 25:13Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest / Is a faithful messenger to those who send him, / For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Pr 25:14Like clouds and wind without rain / Is one who boasts of his gifts falsely.

Pr 25:15By forbearance a ruler may be persuaded, / And a soft tongue can break the bone.

Pr 25:16Have you found honey? Eat only what you need, / Lest you become filled up with it and vomit it.

Pr 25:17Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor’s house, / Otherwise he will become weary of you and hate you.

Pr 25:18A man who bears false witness against his neighbor / Is like a club and a sword and a sharp arrow.

Pr 25:19Confidence in a treacherous man in time of trouble / Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.

Pr 25:20He who sings songs to a troubled heart / Is like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, / Or like vinegar on soda.

Pr 25:21If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; / And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;

Pr 25:22For you will heap coals of fire upon his head, / And Jehovah will reward you.

Pr 25:23The north wind brings forth rain; / And a backbiting tongue, an angry countenance.

Pr 25:24It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop / Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Pr 25:25Like cold water to a thirsty soul, / So is good news from a far country.

Pr 25:26Like a muddied fountain and a polluted spring / Is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked man.

Pr 25:27It is not good to eat much honey, / Nor is it glory for men to search out their own glory.

Pr 25:28Like a city that is broken down, without walls, / Is a man whose spirit is without restraint.

Proverbs 3

Proverbs 3

Proverbs 3: 1-35

Proverbs 3

1.  My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2.  For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3.  Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4.  So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5.  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7.  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

8.  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

9.  Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10.  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11.  My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

12.  For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

13.  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14.  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15.  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16.  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

17.  Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18.  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

19.  The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

20.  By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21.  My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22.  So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

23.  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24.  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25.  Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26.  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27.  Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28.  Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

29.  Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

30.  Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

31.  Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

32.  For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

33.  The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

34.  Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

35.  The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
